Senator Chris Dodd Joins Bet Tzedek for Screening of Nuremberg Trial Footage at Sony Pictures Studios

Monday, June 29, 2015 Bet Tzedek marked the 70th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials with a special screening of the Schulberg/Waltezky restoration of the U.S. Government’s 1948 film about the first Nuremberg trial – the International Military Tribunal. “Nuremberg: Its Lesson for Today” was shown in Sony Studios’ William Holden Theater to a capacity crowd.

Nuremberg TrialsBet Tzedek President and CEO Jessie Kornberg welcomed guests and introduced a panel of commentators, including Michael Bazyler, law professor, and author of several books on Holocaust restitution and trials; Stan Levy, the founding national director of Bet Tzedek’s Holocaust Survivor Justice Network (HSJN) which has collected more than $25 million to date in reparations for Holocaust survivors; and Lisa Hoffman, Bet Tzedek Holocaust Survivor Services attorney, advocate for survivors in the Los Angeles area and mentor to attorneys throughout the national HSJN.

“We are here tonight to witness an extraordinary moment in history,” offered Kornberg, “when the rule of law prevailed over expedience and vengeance. We are here tonight because we share that commitment to fair and equal access to justice, and we are here because more must be done to provide survivors with the justice they deserve.”

Sen Dodd

Senator Christopher J. Dodd, whose father was one of the staff lawyers and whose interrogation skills led to his promotion to the number two prosecutor in the U.S. contingent at Nuremberg, introduced the film and gave riveting responses to questions from the audience.
