Community Members

There are many ways for community members to get involved.  Below are just some of the opportunities available.  To apply, complete our Community & Paralegal Volunteer Application and email it to volunteer@bettzedek.org along with a copy of your resume.
Contact our Pro Bono Coordinator at (323) 549-5895 with any questions.

Screen Clients as an Intake Assistant

One of the most important roles at Bet Tzedek, intake assistants help determine whether clients are eligible for our services and refer ineligible clients to other organizations.

Staff a Legal Clinic

In our Self-Help Conservatorship Clinic, volunteers help family members of developmentally disabled children and seniors with mental capacity issues obtain court orders empowering them to make important legal decisions for their loved ones.  Learn more about the Self-Help Conservatorship Clinic.

Provide Translation Services

We frequently need translation services, whether helping a client prepare for a hearing or translating a document.  Join our list of on-call translators and we will contact you when translation needs arise.  Some helpful language abilities include (but are not limited to) Spanish, Russian and Thai.

Holocaust Reparations Intake

Bet Tzedek is one of the only organizations in the country that provides free legal services to Holocaust survivors with reparations claims.  Volunteers interview potential clients over the phone to determine whether they are eligible for various reparations programs.
