BET TZEDEK’S SELF-HELP
CONSERVATORSHIP AND ELDER ABUSE RESTRAINING ORDER
“I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it,” you tell yourself.
But when the inevitable arrives – a parent’s Alzheimer’s worsens, or a developmentally disabled child turns 18 – the challenges can be daunting. Your loved ones must make their own legal, financial, and medical decisions, but are in no condition to do so.
Bet Tzedek holds self-help clinics for individuals seeking conservatorships for family members and friends. You can gain the legal right to make important choices for those close to you – and we can show you how.
And what about those who rely on the care of others – but are being mistreated? We also assist elderly and dependent adult victims of abuse file elder abuse restraining orders.
At our self-help clinics, Bet Tzedek’s staff and volunteers can assist you with:
- applying for temporary restraining orders
- filing for conservatorships
- obtaining information about the court process
- understanding alternatives to conservatorships
- correcting problems in pending petitions
- preparing fee waiver applications
- preparing bond and accounting waiver applications
Anybody who is not represented by an attorney may be helped on all conservatorships of the person and on a case-by-case basis for conservatorship of the estate – if the person you believe needs a conservatorship has limited assets and income.
INDIVIDUALS ARE ASSISTED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS.
